Ocean Breeze Cooling Fans
High temperatures in an aquarium can cause stress and illness. Not everyone has the budget or space for a chiller, so a simple solution is to help cool your tank through evaporative cooling.
This low-cost solution simply involves blowing a stream of air over the surface of your tank to increase evaporation, which creates evaporative cooling.
There are many low-priced fans on the market, but OCEAN BREEZE units are different, with each fan operating on ball bearings, compared to similar cheaper versions where the plastic fan operates directly on the shaft. This feature increases the cost but significantly extends the lifespan and reduces the noise levels of the fans.
To get the best results from evaporative cooling, it is best to position the fan so that it moves air over the top of an open aquarium. This will remove warm, humid air from the aquarium's surface, replacing it with dry air from the surrounding atmosphere, allowing for more effective evaporative cooling.
Using one or more Ocean Breeze units will allow you to reduce your aquarium's temperature, using a controller, or even with a simple timer set to operate at the hottest part of the day.
Note: The fan should not be wet or be in a closed environment, as this will only recirculate the humid air around the space, and any cooling effect will be minimal or nonexistent.
