Neopetrolisthes oshimai – Rare Porcelain Crab for Reef Aquarium
Neopetrolisthes oshimai is a magnificent porcelain crab that lives in symbiosis with anemones such as Heteractis, Entacmaea, or Stichodactyla. It is distinguished by its small size, its body spotted with white and beige, as well as its long slender legs that allow it to stay stable on its host.
A Discreet and Useful Filter Feeder
This crab deploys its filtering fans to capture suspended particles, microplankton, and artemia. Settled on the anemone or Rhodactis, it continually filters the water, playing a discreet but effective ecological role in the aquarium.
Symbiosis and Behavior
Neopetrolisthes oshimai lives in perfect symbiosis with anemones and poses no danger to fish or corals. It moves slowly, rarely leaving its host, and remains peaceful towards other invertebrates. However, be cautious of territorial clownfish that may drive it away.
