Reef Advantage Calcium 250 g Seachem – ionic calcium powder for reef aquarium
Reef Advantage Calcium is an optimized non-caustic mixture (pH 8.3 to 8.6) of ionic calcium designed to restore and maintain calcium levels found in natural seawater. Calcium and carbonates are essential for coral growth. If either is deficient, the growth of the corals may cease, followed by a rapid decline in their health.
The formula also includes magnesium and strontium in amounts proportional to typical usage rates (100: 5: 0.1, Ca: Mg: Sr). Unlike limewater (kalkwasser), Reef Advantage Calcium does not have a caustic pH and does not deplete magnesium. When used as directed, it does not deplete alkalinity.

Instructions for use
Beginner
Use 5 g (1 level teaspoon) per 150 L of water twice a week.
For precise measurement, use the digital spoon scale. Seachem.
Dissolve in at least 250 ml of fresh water.
Check the calcium every 2 weeks and adjust the amount or frequency accordingly.
Advance
Check the calcium level (use Reef Status Calcium to test magnesium levels), then follow the addition schedule above until the calcium is adjusted to 380 to 420 mg/L.
Each 5 g / 150 L increases the calcium by approximately 12 mg / L.
The quantity or frequency can be adjusted, but does not exceed 10 g / 150 L per day.
Subsequently, use as needed to maintain the calcium.
Expert
After determining the rate of calcium consumption, install a continuous drip system.
Use the following formula to determine the amount to add to your make-up water: m = vc / 400 (m = grams to add to the make-up water, v = volume of the aquarium in liters, c = amount to increase calcium in mg/L).
For reference: 1 gallon = 3.8 liters, 5 g = 1 teaspoon.
Considerations
Use Reef Status Calcium to test calcium levels.
Recommended level: calcium between 380 and 420 mg/L with an alkalinity between 3 and 6 meq/L (8 to 17 dKH).
It is advised to make major adjustments slowly to avoid exceeding the planned levels or shocking the corals and invertebrates.
Each 5 g / 150 L increases the calcium by approximately 12 mg / L.
Do not overdose: an excess of calcium can increase the loss of carbonate alkalinity. Do not mix directly with a carbonate supplement. It is ideal if calcium and carbonate additives are added every two days or at least 30 minutes apart.

Reef Advantage Calcium is a concentrated calcium supplement designed to allow precise measurement of the amount needed to reach a desired calcium level while restoring other essential ions. It mixes at a pH of 8.3 to 8.6 and contains strontium and magnesium ratios proportional to typical depletion rates. If Reef Advantage Calcium is used to maintain calcium, additional strontium and magnesium supplements are not needed.
Reef Advantage Calcium and Reef Calcium are different calcium supplements. Reef Advantage Calcium is a highly concentrated and economical ionic calcium. Reef Calcium is an organic calcium complex that is very easily available, bound to an easily metabolized carbohydrate. Used together, Reef Advantage Calcium can be used as the main supplement and Reef Calcium as a secondary supplement.
Reef Complete is the liquid version of Reef Advantage Calcium. Both are ionic calcium supplements that also provide magnesium and strontium in typical usage rates. The choice depends on the preference between liquid and powder. Reef Calcium is intended to help maintain calcium levels, while Reef Advantage Calcium and Reef Complete are meant to increase calcium levels. If the levels are not in the ideal range, the use of Reef Complete or Reef Advantage Calcium is recommended to increase calcium.
For an automatic dosing system, a method for preparing the stock solution and solubility guidelines are provided, with an estimated dissolution of about 1 teaspoon in 25 to 30 ml of liquid, and an estimate of 33 to 40 teaspoons per liter of RO/DI water (165 g to 200 g), depending on the conditions.
