It is important to note that, although peaceful towards most robust tank companions, it may prey on small shrimp as well as some small delicate fish. It is therefore advisable to keep it with species of an appropriate size and assertive temperament.
A minimum 300-liter aquarium for its well-being
For the optimal maintenance of a Jansen's Wrasse, a tank of at least 300 liters is essential. It is recommended to provide:
- A decor rich in live rock creating multiple hiding places and tunnels,
- An open area for free swimming,
- Moderate to strong water movement to support its need for oxygenation.
Stable parameters and effective filtration are essential to maintain its energy and vibrant colors.
A diverse carnivorous diet
The Thalassoma jansenii is an opportunistic carnivore. Its diet must be varied to maintain its vitality. It particularly enjoys:
- Artemia, mysis, and krill either thawed or live,
- Small pieces of shrimp, mussels, and squid,
- High-quality marine protein pellets for wrasses.
Feeding two to three times a day is recommended to meet its high energy needs.
