Sea water treatments

Treatments

The Treatments category includes all products and protocols intended to prevent and combat diseases, parasites, and biological imbalances in the reef aquarium.

Operating Principles

  • Antiparasitic agents: specific formulations (e.g. Coral Protect, Flatworm Exit) targeting protozoa and flatworms without harming corals and fish.
  • Antibiotics and antifungals: diluted solutions (e.g. Metronidazole, Furan-2) to treat localized bacterial and fungal infections.
  • Oxidative shock: controlled use of ozone or percarbonate to destroy pathogens and residual organics.
  • Biocontrol: introduction of auxiliary organisms (e.g. Lysmata amboinensis, Lysmata Shrimp) to naturally reduce parasitic load.

Advantages

  • Targeted effectiveness: rapid elimination of pathogens without disrupting water parameters.
  • Invertebrate protection: formulations adapted to ensure the safety of corals and fish.
  • Durable prevention: strengthening of biological defenses through biocontrol and optimized skimming.
  • Adaptability: possibility of occasional treatments or long-term protocols depending on the severity.

Usage Recommendations

  • Before treatment, check parameters (pH, KH, salinity) and correct if necessary.
  • Strictly follow the dosages indicated by the manufacturer; prefer short cures at low concentration to minimize stress.
  • Isolate severely affected animals in a hospital tank if possible, while maintaining circulation and aeration.
  • After chemical treatment, perform a partial water change (20–30%) and initiate intensive skimming to remove residues.
  • At the end of the treatment, introduce remineralization products (Balling Light, Elementals) and probiotics (Bacto Therapy) to restore microbiological balance.
