Biopellet
Biopellets for Reef Aquarium
Biopellets emerged in the early 2010s with the development of biological nutrient reduction methods in reef aquariums. Inspired by denitrification processes used in aquaculture and water treatment, they offer a modern solution for controlling nitrates and phosphates.
Made from biodegradable polymers, biopellets serve as a solid carbon source promoting the growth of specific bacteria. These bacteria consume nitrogen compounds and are then exported via the skimmer, helping to maintain nutrient-poor water.
Used in a dedicated reactor ensuring constant agitation, biopellets allow for a gradual and controlled reduction of nutrients. They are particularly suited for aquariums heavily populated with hard corals seeking stability, water clarity, and optimized coloration.
