The TUNZE LED eco chic refugium 8831 light fixture is designed to stimulate algae growth in marine aquarium refugiums as well as plant growth in freshwater aquariums. Its light spectrum is specially calibrated to promote photosynthesis, making it a perfectly suitable solution for aquatic plant cultivation.

In reef aquariums, it is primarily used for the cultivation of algae such as Chaetomorpha. This process provides a natural and effective method for reducing nitrates and phosphates, thereby helping to maintain a stable biological balance in the system. Regular harvesting of the algae allows for the continuous extraction of excess nutrients without resorting to chemicals.

Optimized light spectrum

The light spectrum of the TUNZE LED eco chic refugium 8831 is designed to meet the photosynthetic needs of macroalgae and aquatic plants. It is exclusively dedicated to this use and is not suitable for lighting corals or fish. This specialization ensures rapid and controlled growth in refuges, filtration tanks, and planted aquariums.

With a photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) flux of 2.22 W and a photosynthetic photon flux of 10.1 µmol/s, the 8831 provides a light supply perfectly suited for photosynthesis.

Emerged or submerged use

Thanks to its IP68 protection class, the luminaire can be installed above or directly below the water's surface. Underwater use has the advantage of limiting light losses due to reflection, making the light source more efficient at the same power level. An immersion of 1 to 2 cm is sufficient to optimize light diffusion.

Its fully waterproof casing allows for prolonged use underwater without the risk of corrosion, while helping to reduce the need for heating. Operating at a low safety voltage of 12 V, it ensures safe use, even in permanent immersion.

Simple installation with Magnet Holder

Supplied with a robust Magnet Holder, the TUNZE 8831 can be easily attached to aquarium glass up to 10 mm thick. Its compact design allows for easy integration, whether in a refuge, sump, or planted aquarium. Security and thermal management

The luminaire incorporates an automatic thermal protection system. When the ambient temperature exceeds approximately 25°C, the power gradually adjusts from 9 W to about 7 W, ensuring the longevity of the components and safe operation.
