Strontium (Sr)

What to do when the level is too high?

Risks: chemical instability of calcification, coral stress, risk of unwanted precipitation in the water system (critical value >12 mg/L).

Measures: gradually reduce through regular partial water changes, check and adjust supplementation (Elementals Sr, Balling Light), aim for 7–10 mg/L Sr.

What to do when the level is too low?

Risks: loss of coloration and slowed growth of hard corals, increased fragility of the skeleton, uneven development of the coral skeleton.

Measures: add via Elementals Trace Sr (e.g., 10–15 mL spread over 1–2 days with Balling Light), perform a partial water change to homogenize, monitor and adjust to 7–10 mg/L Sr.
