ATI Strontium 1000 ml – Strontium Supplement for Reef Aquarium
ATI Strontium is a trace element supplement designed for marine aquariums. Strontium is incorporated into the skeletons of hard corals and is involved in the processes of mineralization and development of calcareous structures.
Although its physiological significance is not yet fully elucidated, several observations show an involvement of strontium in the developmental biology of soft corals and calcareous algae.
The Role of Strontium in Reef Aquariums
Strontium plays a crucial role in the calcification of SPS and LPS corals as well as red calcareous algae. Insufficient concentration can lead to slowed growth, more fragile skeletons, and less pronounced growth tips.
In aquariums rich in calcifying organisms, strontium consumption can be significant, making regular monitoring essential.
Consumption and Causes of Deficiency
Strontium is continuously consumed in the reef aquarium. A deficiency mainly occurs due to prolonged consumption by corals and calcareous algae, sometimes exacerbated by a supplementation system that does not compensate for this element.
An ICP analysis can accurately identify discrepancies and adjust supplementation to the actual consumption rate of the aquarium.
Dosage and Recommendations
10 ml of supplement increases the strontium concentration of 100 L by 1 mg/L.
For precise management based on ICP analyses, it is recommended to proceed with gradual additions and not to exceed an increase of 2 mg/L per day, which is 10 ml for 100 L.
This dosage precision allows for both targeted corrections and the implementation of stable daily supplementation.
