Zeolite Reactor
Zeolite Reactors for Reef Aquariums
Zeolite reactors developed with the emergence of ultra-low nutrient maintenance methods in the early 2000s, particularly in Europe. Inspired by protocols aiming to replicate the natural oligotrophic waters of coral reefs, they have become a key tool for aquariums dominated by hard corals.
The principle is based on the controlled circulation of water through a specific zeolite media that promotes the reduction of nitrogen compounds. Combined with appropriate supplementation, these reactors allow for clearer water, more intense colors, and controlled coral growth.
Current models are distinguished by their optimized chamber, adjustable pumping system, and ease of maintenance. Zeolite reactors are aimed at experienced aquarists seeking precision, stability, and performance in a demanding reef aquarium.
