Chromium is believed to play a role in enzymatic regulation and the availability of micronutrients within bacterial biofilms. In a closed reef system, insufficient concentration can limit certain biological reactions, particularly in invertebrates and microbial communities.

Chromium deficiencies can stem from naturally low marine salts, a lack of compensation through trace element solutions, or continuous removal by the skimmer when chromium is bound to biomolecules.

Dosage and Recommendations

1 ml per 100 L increases chromium concentration by 1 µg/L.

To secure supplementation, it is recommended not to exceed 0.5 µg/L per day, which is 0.5 ml per 100 L per day. This progressive dosing allows for precise concentration control and limits the risk of overdosing.

Regular ICP analysis is strongly advised to adapt supplementation to the actual needs of the tank.
