Strontium is naturally present in seawater at a concentration of about 8 to 10 mg/L. Chemically similar to calcium, it is incorporated by many reef organisms into their calcareous structures.

Reef Advantage Strontium Seachem helps restore and maintain strontium at levels observed in natural seawater. It promotes the growth of corals, coralline algae, and calcifying organisms such as tridacna clams, while contributing to the ionic stability of the reef system.

The Role of Strontium in Reef Aquariums

Strontium is used by corals similarly to calcium and plays an important role in maintaining healthy and continuous growth. In densely populated aquariums, its consumption is increased, making regular supplementation necessary.

Reef Advantage Strontium is ionically balanced and can be added directly to the aquarium without prior preparation.

250 g, 500 g, 1 kg, 1.2 kg, 4 kg.

Instructions for Use

Beginner

Add 6 g (about 1 level teaspoon) per 150 L of water, twice a week.

The product can be added directly to the aquarium.

For precise dosing, using a spoon scale is recommended.

Advanced

Monitor the strontium level and adjust the dosage to achieve a concentration between 8 and 12 mg/L.

Each dose of 6 g per 150 L raises strontium by about 2 mg/L.

The quantity or frequency can be adjusted based on the tank's consumption.

Expert

After determining the rate of strontium depletion, a continuous drip system can be set up.

Calculation formula:

m = v × s / 30

m = grams of product to add
v = tank volume in liters
s = desired increase in mg/L

Example: to increase strontium by 6 mg/L in a 200 L aquarium, add 40 g to the top-up water.

Important Considerations

Significant adjustments should be made gradually to avoid overdosing.

Excess strontium can lead to a loss of carbonate alkalinity.

Do not mix directly with a carbonate supplement. It is advised to space additions by at least 30 minutes or alternate them every other day.
