Reef Strontium Seachem 100 ml – Strontium for Reef Aquarium

Strontium is present in natural seawater at a concentration between 8 and 10 mg/L. Chemically similar to calcium, it is used by many marine organisms to form their calcareous structures.

Reef Strontium is formulated to restore and maintain these levels without altering the pH or unbalancing alkalinity when used correctly.

Gluconate Formulation

Reef Strontium contains 10,000 mg/L of strontium in the form of a gluconate complex. This form enhances the bioavailability of strontium, limits precipitation phenomena, and reduces the impact on carbonate alkalinity.

Gluconate also provides a source of metabolic energy usable by soft corals, without adding nitrogen or phosphorus, thus avoiding any undesirable algae stimulation.

Recommended Use

Reef Strontium is intended for maintaining strontium levels in reef aquariums. It promotes the growth of corals, coralline algae, and calcareous organisms such as tridacnas.

Dosage

Use 5 ml per 80 L of water, twice a week.

Each 5 ml dose per 80 L increases strontium by approximately 0.6 mg/L.

The frequency or quantity can be adjusted according to the tank's needs to maintain a level between 8 and 12 mg/L.

Advanced and Expert Dosage

After measuring strontium, it is possible to precisely adjust the concentration using a dosing system or continuous drip.

Calculation formula for top-off water: m = 0.1 × v × s m = ml of product, v = tank volume in liters, s = desired increase in mg/L.

Recommendations and Precautions

The recommended strontium level is between 8 and 12 mg/L.

Significant adjustments should be made gradually to avoid any instability.

Excess strontium can increase the consumption of carbonate alkalinity. It is not recommended to mix Reef Strontium directly with a carbonate supplement.
