The Sarcophyton elegans is a remarkable variety of leather coral, known for its golden yellow to cream hue and its wide and domed cap. Its short, dense, and well-distributed polyps give it a very aesthetically pleasing textured appearance. It stands out notably from other Sarcophyton due to its sunny shade and strong visual presence.
Easy to Maintain, Ideal for All Levels
The Sarcophyton elegans is a robust and tolerant soft coral, which adapts very well to life in an aquarium. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced reef aquarists, and can be placed in intermediate to bright areas of the tank to fully benefit from its coloration.
A Structuring Coral with Slow but Steady Growth
Its growth is stable, and although a bit slower than that of classic Sarcophyton, it can reach a good size and create a structuring focal point in the aquarium. It is also easy to propagate once well established.
Lighting and Water Flow
This coral appreciates moderate to strong lighting to maintain its beautiful yellow hue. A moderate flow allows for good oxygenation of tissues and promotes full polyp extension.
