As an adult, it can reach up to 40 cm, requiring a large capacity marine aquarium.

This angelfish is of a territorial nature and is not recommended with other Pomacanthus, except in very large tanks with simultaneous introduction. It can coexist with active fish of similar size, but small calm fish or invertebrates should be avoided to prevent any aggression.

It may attack LPS corals, soft corals, or zoanthids, making it more suitable for fish-only aquariums. However, some experienced aquarists keep it in reef tanks with robust or less palatable species.

The Pomacanthus annularis is omnivorous with a strong carnivorous tendency. To maintain its health and enhance its colors, it should be fed several times a day with a varied and quality diet:

A rich and regular diet also helps limit its tendency to nibble on polyps and invertebrates.
