The Aqua Medic AquaEPS (Emergency Power System) is a device designed to maintain water circulation in a marine aquarium during a power outage. In the event of a power failure, the system automatically switches to a connected 12 V battery to power the circulation pumps and preserve the aquarium's oxygenation.
Maintaining water movement is essential in a reef aquarium. Without circulation, oxygen quickly decreases, and biological processes can be disrupted. AquaEPS helps maintain the biological activity of the tank and limits risks for fish, corals, and nitrifying bacteria.
The system is easily installed between the main power supply and the circulation pump. As soon as the power supply is interrupted, a connected 12 V battery immediately takes over to maintain water circulation in the aquarium. This backup power can operate for several hours depending on the battery capacity used.
When the power returns, the device automatically recharges the connected battery so it is ready for future use.
AquaEPS includes an energy management system that continuously monitors the battery's charge level. An alert is triggered when the charge falls below 10%, and an automatic cut-off occurs at 5% to prevent deep discharge and preserve the battery's lifespan.
The device is compatible with pumps operating at 12 V or 24 V. Multiple devices can be connected simultaneously as long as the total power does not exceed the system's maximum capacity. This versatility allows effective securing of various essential aquarium equipment.

Install the system between the electrical supply and the aquarium's circulation pump. Then connect a compatible 12 V battery. Regularly check the battery status to ensure sufficient autonomy in case of prolonged power outages.
This type of device is particularly recommended for reef aquariums containing sensitive corals, where a prolonged interruption of circulation can quickly lead to an oxygen drop and biological imbalance.
