Diagnosis is the first step towards a quick recovery. Most fish diseases are contagious and can spread quickly, hence the importance of quick action and treatment when warning signs appear.
Skin: any change in color or appearance should be monitored.
Fins: fins held close to the body can be a sign of illness.
Swimming behavior: unusual or slow behavior may indicate the onset of a disease.
Breathing: rapid or difficult breathing may be observed in some cases.
Fine yellowish-white spots that can give a hazy appearance, rubbing against hard objects, rapid gill movements, possible mucus presence on the body.
White spots on the body and fins, with rubbing against the decor.
White, fluffy growths on fins and body, often on a wound or an area where the mucus layer has been damaged.
Shredded, frayed, or torn fins.
Filtration can be maintained on non-adsorbent materials. Active chemical filtration media that may negatively influence the action of the treatment should be removed, including activated carbon, UV, oxidants, resins, and skimmers, depending on the installation. Filters should remain operational day and night.
It is generally not necessary to perform a water change before or after use. A partial water change can be performed before treatment in case of poor water quality, or if you are close to your usual water change schedule.
