The Neolamprologus brichardi, also nicknamed the "Princess of Burundi," is a fish native to Central Africa. Its elongated body, somewhat laterally compressed, and especially the black mark connecting its mouth to its operculum make it recognizable. Though not very aggressive and tolerant, it is territorial because it lives in colonies, residing near the bottom. Once adult, the Neolamprologus brichardi reaches an average length of 8 cm. Therefore, an aquarium of at least 200 liters is required for this type of breeding. The water in the tank should not drop below 22°C, but should not exceed 25°C either. As for the pH, it should be between 7.5 and 9. The rocky soil of their natural habitat must be respected.
The species is omnivorous and thus feeds on dry, fresh, or frozen foods. To avoid polluting the water, it is preferable not to overfeed your colony. Moreover, feeding spread over the day in 2 or 3 sessions is much more beneficial than a single substantial feeding per day.
