Trace Colors A – Iodine & Halogens – 500 ml
Iodine Supplement for Reef Aquarium
Trace Colors A is part of Red Sea's Trace Colors program and provides iodine as well as other essential halogens, such as bromine and fluorine, naturally present in the soft tissues and skeleton of corals.
These elements are directly involved in several biological functions, including the production of pigments responsible for the pink hues observed in many hard corals.
Biological Role of Halogens
Iodine, bromine, and fluorine are involved in oxidation and antioxidation mechanisms within the soft tissues and the mucus layer of corals.
They help limit oxidative stress and reduce the risk of coral bleaching in balanced reef systems.
Iodine and bromine are particularly associated with the pink chromoprotein (pocciloporine), involved in the intensity of pink colorations.
Consumption in Reef Aquarium
In active reef aquariums, halogens are rapidly consumed due to their high chemical reactivity and interaction with dissolved organic matter.
Regular supplementation helps maintain stable levels and prevent deficiencies that could affect the coloration and vitality of corals.
Reef Care Program Compatibility
Coral Colors A is designed to be used as part of the Red Sea Reef Care program.
For optimal coral color expression, the combined use of NO3:PO4-X Red Sea is recommended to maintain suitable nutrient levels.
Dosage
1 ml increases the iodine concentration by 0.03 ppm for 100 liters of water.
The dosage should be adjusted based on the actual consumption of the tank and ideally monitored using appropriate tests.
