Kalkwasser, also known as calcium hydroxide, is a product intended for the preparation of limewater for marine aquariums. When used correctly, limewater provides calcium to the aquarium while promoting the precipitation of phosphates.
Limewater is a saturated solution of calcium hydroxide. A saturated solution contains about 900 mg of calcium per liter. It contributes to the calcium supply needed by calcifying organisms and helps reduce dissolved phosphates.
This method is traditionally used to compensate for the evaporated water from the aquarium while maintaining parameters.
Mix 1 measure, approximately 7 g of calcium hydroxide, into 10 L of demineralized water.
Let the solution rest overnight in an airtight container.
Use only the clear liquid.
Limewater can be used to replace evaporated water from the aquarium.
Add the clear liquid drop by drop.
Do not pour all at once to avoid a sudden increase in the pH value.
Causes burns.
In case of contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and consult a doctor.
Keep out of reach of children.
