Background decor
Background Decor for Marine Aquarium
Background decor has become popular with modern aquaristics, particularly through printed backgrounds and then the 3D structured versions, which have become common as technical aquariums have become widespread. The goal is twofold: to enhance visual immersion and to hide the background (cables, overflow, piping), while adding depth.
The strengths of current background decors are the depth rendering and ease of integration. Some 3D models are designed with a low installation thickness while creating a realistic illusion, and they use materials suitable for aquarium use, such as polyurethane structures coated with epoxy resin. When well-chosen, a background decor improves the overall aesthetics, highlights the reef, and helps to structure the space. It can also offer shaded areas and hiding spots, useful for reducing the stress of certain species.
