Molybdenum

Molybdenum (Mo)

What to do when the level is too high?

Risks: High concentrations of molybdenum are generally well tolerated and do not cause direct toxicity, but they can promote the proliferation of cyanobacteria in the presence of high organic load and without inhibitors.

Measures: Perform regular partial water changes, use activated carbon or aluminum-based adsorbers, monitor the organic load, and adjust the molybdenum supply if necessary (optimal value: 12–15 µg/L).

What to do when the level is too low?

Risks: Reduction in nitrate-reducing enzyme activity, slowed coral growth, increase in nutrients.

Measures: Gradually add via Elementals Trace Mo (e.g., 30.2 mL distributed over 1 day with Balling Light), monitor coral response, and repeat until reaching 12–15 µg/L.
