Chromium

Chrome (Cr)

What to do when the level is too high?

Risks: coral toxicity (tissue detachment, cellular stress), progressive decline of fast-growing corals.

Measures: reduce concentration through regular partial water changes, filter with adsorbent media (aluminum or iron-based resins), identify and remove the source of chrome (optimal value: < 0.3 µg/L).

What to do when the level is too low?

Risks: slowing of enzymatic processes related to coral lipid metabolism, less vivid coloration and contrast.

Measures: add via Elementals Trace Cr (e.g., 82.6 mL spread over 3 days with Balling Light), perform a partial water change to homogenize, monitor and adjust until reaching 0.2–0.3 µg/L.
