Characteristics and Maintenance
Morphology and Color
This coral is distinguished by:
- A fine and branched structure, characteristic of Acropora Turaki.
- A bright blue coloration, sometimes turquoise.
- Tips that may display fluorescent green highlights.
Lighting
Intense lighting is required:
- Recommended intensity between 300 and 600 PAR.
- Suggested light spectrum: blue dominant (15,000K to 20,000K).
- Gradual adaptation is recommended to avoid bleaching.
Water Flow
Medium to strong water flow is essential:
- Promote a constant flow to prevent sediment accumulation.
- Use wide diffusion pumps to simulate a natural current.
Water Quality
This SPS coral requires a stable environment with the following parameters:
- Nitrates: between 2 and 10 mg/L.
- Phosphates: between 0.02 and 0.06 mg/L.
- KH: between 7 and 8, to be maintained stable.
- Calcium: 440 mg/L.
- Magnesium: between 1350 and 1450 mg/L.
Regular ICP tests are recommended to adjust trace elements.
Feeding
Although primarily photosynthetic, supplementary feeding promotes its growth:
- Artemia nauplii.
- Frozen red plankton.
- Specific granules for SPS corals (400 - 800 µm).
- Amino acids and trace elements as supplements.
Aggressiveness and Compatibility
This coral is not very aggressive, but it should be placed carefully:
- Avoid proximity to stinging corals like Euphyllia or Galaxea.
- Leave enough space to ensure its proper development.
