Centropyge flavissima – Lemon Dwarf Angelfish from Bali Aquarich
Centropyge flavissima, also known as the lemon dwarf angelfish, is a very vibrant and dynamic species. With its uniform bright yellow coloration, enhanced by a subtle blue outline around the eyes and on the fins, it instantly brightens any reef aquarium.
A Shining Classic Among Dwarf Angelfish
This Centropyge is distinguished by its compact silhouette, lively swimming, and bright colors. It is perfectly suited to a medium to large-sized tank, where it moves confidently and curiously among the rocks and open areas.
Behavior and Compatibility
Centropyge flavissima is a moderately territorial fish, best kept alone or in pairs in a tank of at least 250 to 300 liters. It can coexist with other calm to dynamic reef fish, but may show signs of rivalry towards other Centropyge.
Like most dwarf angelfish, it is potentially incompatible with corals (notably LPS and clams), which it may nip at. Therefore, it is best reserved for fish-only tanks or those with carefully monitored coral populations.
Feeding and Acclimation Protocol
Coming from captive breeding environments, these fish are not accustomed to inert feed. Therefore, we apply a rigorous acclimation process:
- 1 week of feeding with live marine copepods
- Transition to frozen brine shrimp
- Adaptation to high-quality marine pellets
This acclimation takes place over 15 days before shipping, in water of perfect reef quality, ensuring a strong, stable fish ready to join your aquarium.
Maintenance Conditions
- Minimum volume: 250 to 300 liters
- Temperature: 24°C to 26°C
- pH: between 8.1 and 8.4
- Moderate to strong water flow
- Rocky décor with numerous hiding spots
