Bucephalandra evolves on the island of Borneo, on rocks or branches in streams and waterways. By nature, this plant has a slow growth that requires little light. Small white spots appear on the leaves when the plant is underwater, whereas the colors are rather pale if the leaves are emerged.
The common size in aquariums is about 12 to 15 cm in height. For the maintenance of this plant, water between 20° and 30° and a pH between 6 and 7.5 are the recommended parameters. The CO2 level in the aquarium and the lighting can influence the very slow growth of Bucephalandra.
