Meiacanthus grammistes is an elegant blenny with an elongated body, adorned with black horizontal stripes on a pearly white background. Originally from tropical lagoons and reefs, it is now available from breeding thanks to Biota's ethical work. This reef fish is renowned for its natural beauty, easy acclimatization, and peaceful behavior.
An ornamental, active, and peaceful fish
The Meiacanthus grammistes is known for its smooth and graceful swimming in open water and its ability to coexist with a wide range of reef species. It is very peaceful with other fish, though it may defend its territory against very close conspecifics, especially in a small tank.
Intelligent natural defense
Like other Meiacanthus, this blenny has a dentition capable of injecting a mild venom, harmless to humans but discouraging to predators. This allows it to display vivid colors without fearing attacks in nature as well as in aquariums.
