DKI ß-carotene is a functional supplement developed by Easy Reefs, enriched with Dunaliella and Haematococcus microalgae. It is part of an advanced nutrition program aimed at supporting the natural coloration of fish in marine aquariums.
Form: granule size Ø 0.8 mm for even distribution.
Net weight: 50 g.
Active ingredients: natural carotenoids.
Biological origin: Dunaliella and Haematococcus microalgae.
The addition of color enhancers in feed is a fundamental aspect of nutrition in aquaculture and ornamental fish. The coloration of scales and skin is a major quality criterion, influencing both the visual value of the fish and certain physiological, behavioral, and welfare aspects of animals kept in captivity.
The main pigments involved in fish coloration are melanin, guanine, and carotenoids.
Melanin and guanine can be synthesized by most fish and therefore do not require specific dietary intake. However, fish are unable to synthesize carotenoids de novo, making their dietary intake essential.
In this context, Dunaliella and Haematococcus microalgae are major natural sources of carotenoids. Dunaliella is known for its richness in ß-carotene, while Haematococcus is a natural source of astaxanthin.
These two pigments play a central role in the pink, orange, and reddish pigmentation observed on the skin and scales of a wide range of fish species, both in aquaculture and aquariums. Their effectiveness has been demonstrated following dietary supplementation in commercially important fish.
| Element | Value per 100 g |

| Dunaliella | Natural source of ß-carotene |
| Haematococcus | Natural source of astaxanthin |
| Carotenoids | Pigments responsible for pink, orange, and red hues |
This supplement is intended to be integrated into a comprehensive fish nutrition strategy in marine aquariums, particularly in systems where the intensity, stability, and uniformity of coloration are a priority.
