This Euphyllia cristata is appreciated for its resilience and tolerance to moderate variations in water parameters. It develops into well-formed colonies and creates a spectacular movement effect in a reef aquarium.
Ideal conditions for optimal development
Lighting and flow
To maximize its flourishing, moderate lighting is recommended, with an intensity around 100-200 PAR. Gentle to moderate flow is ideal to promote the deployment of the tentacles without exposing them to a current that is too strong, which could damage them.
Water parameters
Like all LPS corals, the Euphyllia cristata requires stable and well-balanced water:
- Temperature: 24-26°C
- Salinity: 35 ppt (1.025)
- pH: 8.0 - 8.4
- KH: 7-9 dKH
- Calcium: 400-450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250-1350 ppm
- Nitrates: between 2 and 10 mg/L for optimal coloration
- Phosphates: between 0.02 and 0.08 mg/L
