The blue melanote ide is a fish that swims near the surface in freshwater, in schools. Robust, with a long lifespan, this specimen withstands winter very well and resists parasites. En savoir plus

A very popular pond fish, the ide melanote belongs to the cypriniformes. Once an adult, its maximum size can reach 50 cm and its weight around 3 kg. With a lifespan of 50 to 100 years, this fish is a durable and robust animal. Its evolution, close to the water's surface, is perfectly suited for breeding in a pond or aquarium. It should be kept in a group of at least 5 to 10, but it is recommended to integrate it with a large group of similar fish.

These fish jump out of the water, so it is essential to cover the aquarium in question or to provide suitable pond edges. Omnivorous, the blue ide melanote can feed on insects, small fish, its own eggs, or even seeds when natural resources allow. In the context of breeding, a diet based on high-quality vitamins is recommended.
