Tanganyika Buffer™ Seachem 250 g – Mineral Buffer for Lake Tanganyika Cichlids

Tanganyika Buffer™ Seachem is a buffer salt blend formulated to replicate the specific chemical parameters of Lake Tanganyika. It helps increase and stabilize pH as well as alkalinity, to provide a suitable environment for cichlids from this African biotope.

Role and Functioning

Lake Tanganyika has highly alkaline and very stable water. Tanganyika Buffer™ increases carbonate alkalinity (KH), thus limiting pH fluctuations often responsible for stress and physiological disorders in cichlids.

This buffer promotes long-term chemical stability, essential for the growth, natural behavior, and reproduction of Tanganyikan species.

Aquarium Compatibility

This product is intended for aquariums housing:

• Lake Tanganyika cichlids.
• Species requiring high and well-buffered pH.

It is not suitable for Amazonian, Asian, marine, or reef aquariums.

Usage and Dosage

Tanganyika Buffer™ is used during the preparation of new water. The product must be dissolved separately before being introduced into the aquarium.

The dosage depends on the starting water's pH and alkalinity as well as the target values sought. For a complete replication of Lake Tanganyika water, the joint use of Cichlid Lake Salt™ Seachem is recommended.

Do not add directly to the aquarium without prior dissolution. Always check pH and KH after adjustment. Do not use in combination with acidifying products.
