Cichlid Lake Salt is a chemically balanced mixture of salts designed to replicate the mineral composition of the large African lakes that house cichlids. It provides the physiologically essential elements necessary for their well-being.
Main Features
Replicates the mineral environment of African cichlids.
Provides calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium.
Includes trace elements such as iron, aluminum, and iodide.
Affects only hardness, without altering pH or alkalinity.
Effect on Water
Cichlid Lake Salt increases the water hardness to closely match the natural conditions of African lakes. It does not directly influence the pH or carbonate hardness, allowing for separate and precise control of the parameters.
The different African lakes have similar mineral compositions but at varying concentrations. This product is formulated to adapt to these variations by adjusting the dosage according to the origin of the cichlids.
Recommended Use
Cichlid Lake Salt is used when setting up the aquarium or during water changes. It does not require daily addition and allows for long-lasting mineral stability.
For adjusting pH and carbonate hardness, the use of specific buffers suited to Lakes Tanganyika, Malawi, or Victoria is recommended.
