Symbiotic Plexaurella Gorgonian - Size S
A branched and living gorgonian
The Symbiotic Plexaurella is a photosynthetic gorgonian that develops in the form of thick and flexible branches, featuring fine and regular polyps. In size S, it already forms a beautiful vertical structure, perfect for creating relief in sparsely populated areas of the reef.
An easy-to-maintain soft coral
Equipped with zooxanthellae, the Plexaurella derives most of its energy through photosynthesis. It does not require specific feeding, although adding microfauna or phytoplankton can improve polyp opening and support its growth.
Natural and harmonious colors
Plexaurella gorgonians are often beige, light brown, or slightly golden in color, with cream or white polyps. Their discreet and organic appearance provides a soft and realistic contrast against more colorful or massive corals.
Lighting and water flow
Moderate to strong lighting (between 120 and 200 PAR) is recommended to activate photosynthesis. A constant and moderate water flow helps keep the polyps well open and prevents deposits on its branches.
Water parameters
The Symbiotic Plexaurella appreciates clean, stable, and well-oxygenated water:
- Temperature: 24–26°C
- Salinity: 35 ppt (1.025)
- pH: 8.0–8.4
- KH: 7–9 dKH
- Calcium: 400–450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm
A peaceful and structuring soft coral
