Colombo Pro Reef Salt 4 kg – Premium Natural Salt for Reef Aquarium

Colombo Pro Reef Salt is a high-quality marine salt designed to closely replicate the composition of natural seawater. Unlike most reef salts produced through chemical processes, it is made from natural seawater evaporated using solar energy, ensuring exceptional purity and optimal biological balance.

A Marine Salt Derived from Natural Seawater

At least 85% of the components of Colombo Pro Reef Salt are harvested directly from natural seawater through eco-friendly solar evaporation. This natural origin allows for the retention of trace elements in proportions identical to those in seawater, as well as beneficial bacterial traces for the aquarium's biology.

These characteristics contribute to a significant improvement in biological stability and promote the development, growth, and coloration of corals for a vast majority of aquarists.

Water Usage and Renewal

To maintain a healthy marine aquarium, it is recommended to renew 5 to 10% of the water volume weekly. Start by compensating for evaporation with purified water, then replace the desired volume with freshly prepared seawater using Colombo Pro Reef salt.

Seawater Preparation

1. Dissolve 1 kg of Colombo Pro Reef Salt in about 30 liters of purified water at 25°C.
2. Circulate the water until the salt is completely dissolved and the water becomes perfectly clear (usually less than 60 minutes).
3. Check the salinity, typically between 1.022 and 1.023, and adjust if necessary.
4. Verify main parameters such as calcium, magnesium, and KH, and adjust according to the specific needs of the aquarium.

As an indication, the calcium obtained is about 420 mg/l. Aquarists desiring higher values can adjust either by adding more salt or using suitable additives.

Important Notes

Slight mineral deposits may sometimes appear after preparation. These are natural residues from the sand present in the evaporated seawater. These deposits are completely harmless.

If high nitrates or phosphates are detected in the newly prepared water, they do not come from the salt but generally from a worn-out or poorly maintained reverse osmosis system. Replacing the filters is then essential.
