Cerithium sp. – Algae-eating and Detritivorous Snail
Cerithium sp. is a small, efficient, and discreet marine snail, recognized for its essential role in the natural maintenance of reef aquariums. It has a elongated spiral shell, usually black with tiny white spots, giving it a simple and elegant appearance.
A thorough cleaner for the tank
Cerithium sp. is both algae-eating and detritivorous. It feeds on microalgae present on sand, glass, and rocks, as well as on organic debris and food remains. This behavior makes it a multitasking cleaner very useful for the tank's balance.
Behavior and compatibility
Totally harmless, it is compatible with all invertebrates, corals, and fish. It is ideal in a reef or fish-only tank. Very active on the substrate, it also participates in the surface stirring of the sand, thus helping to limit anaerobic zones.
