Nassarius vibex – Micro-burrowing snail for reef aquarium

Nassarius vibex is a very small reef snail, measuring between 0.5 and 1 cm. It is particularly appreciated for its burrowing behavior that promotes oxygenation of the sand and stimulates the development of bacterial microfauna.

A discreet and ultra-efficient cleaner

This small marine snail spends most of its time buried in the substrate and emerges as soon as it detects organic waste or food. Thanks to its small size, it reaches areas of the sand inaccessible to other detritivores, thus ensuring a thorough cleaning of the aquarium bottom.

Maintenance conditions

  • Size: 0.5 to 1 cm
  • Minimum recommended volume: 30 liters
  • Temperature: 23°C to 27°C
  • pH: 8.0 to 8.4
  • Substrate: fine sand of at least 2 to 3 cm

Reproduction and behavior

The Nassarius vibex is a detritivore that can reproduce in an aquarium. It is advisable to introduce a group of 5 individuals or more and occasionally feed them with thawed, peeled cooked shrimp. It is completely harmless to corals, fish, and invertebrates.

Precautions after transport

After a journey, this snail may pretend to be dead by extending its foot and positioning itself shell-upside-down. This is a common survival mechanism. If it does not move after 48 hours, contact our team. During this period, ensure that no shrimp, fireworm, or other predator disturbs it.

Why choose Nassarius vibex?

  • Small size ideal for hard-to-reach areas
  • Excellent burrower, perfect for activating sand life
  • Harmless detritivore for any reef aquarium
  • Can be kept alone or in a group
  • Promotes the biological stability of the substrate

Nassarius vibex is a very active and essential small snail for any well-maintained reef aquarium. Through its action in the sand, it actively contributes to the balance of your marine tank.
