The Tectus virgatus L is a highly efficient reef snail known for its ability to eliminate unwanted algae in marine aquariums. Active day and night, it roams the glass, live rocks, and substrate in search of biofilms and microalgae, ensuring constant and natural cleaning.
Thanks to its solid conical shell and great mobility, the Tectus virgatus is perfectly suited for medium to large-sized aquariums. It is recommended to keep between 5 and 10 individuals per 100 liters for optimal cleaning.
This algae grazer is harmless to corals, fish, and other invertebrates. However, it is not advisable to introduce it into an aquarium with a large population of hermit crabs, as they may attack its shell.
Acclimation Tip: ensure to never place the snail operculum side down. An air bubble could enter its shell and cause its death. A gentle drip acclimation is strongly recommended.
The Tectus virgatus L is an essential snail for ensuring natural, silent, and long-lasting maintenance of your reef aquarium. A choice ally for maintaining a balanced and healthy ecosystem.
