Turbo brunneus – Nocturnal Algae-eating Green Snail
The Turbo brunneus, also known as the green snail, is a marine algae-eating snail highly valued by reef aquarists. This specimen is known for its great efficiency in the natural regulation of unwanted algae, especially during invasion periods. Mostly active at night, it roams the glass, live rocks, and substrate in search of microalgae to graze on.
A Highly Effective Algae Grazer
Snails of the Turbo brunneus type are true natural cleaners. They actively contribute to the biological balance of the reef aquarium. Thanks to their strictly algae-eating diet, they prevent algae proliferation without affecting the corals or other invertebrates in the tank.
Behavior and Compatibility
Rather nocturnal, the Turbo brunneus is a discreet animal that works mainly when the aquarium is at rest. It is harmless to corals, fish, and crustaceans. It can coexist with all invertebrates, except for overly invasive hermit crabs that might steal its shell.
