Nano Tech Anaerobic Block Maxspect

The Nano-Tech Anaerobic Block Maxspect are designed for the efficient removal of nitrates in freshwater and marine aquariums. This patented technology promotes the development of anaerobic bacteria, essential for natural denitrification.

Operating Principle

The Nano-Tech Anaerobic Block stimulates the growth of anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria, particularly from the Paracoccus denitrificans genera and certain pseudomonads. These bacteria complete the nitrogen cycle by converting nitrates into gaseous nitrogen, thus allowing for the natural export of nutrients out of the aquarium.

Denitrification is a widely used method in the treatment of municipal, industrial, and agricultural wastewater. Maxspect has integrated this proven technology into a compact format, perfectly suited for use in aquarium sump systems.

Structure and Design

The Nano-Tech Anaerobic Block are made from specially treated ceramic nano-beads. Their porous structure is optimized to create a stable anoxic environment, ideal for the development of anaerobic bacterial colonies.

The bacteria develop on the blocks without degrading them, ensuring durable use and consistent efficiency.

Usage

Stack two Nano-Tech Anaerobic Blocks horizontally in the sump tank, placing the denitrification catalyst between the two blocks, at the recessed location.

For optimal efficiency:

– Replace the denitrification catalyst every 2 months
– Clean or replace the Nano-Tech Anaerobic Blocks every 6 months
– Never clean or replace all the blocks at the same time to preserve existing bacterial colonies
