The Maxspect Nano-Tech Bio-Plugs are inert biological supports, made of 100% ceramic microbeads. They are designed to promote the attachment and growth of corals while actively participating in the biological filtration of the aquarium.

Structure and Functioning

The Nano-Tech Bio-Plugs have an optimized porous structure that stimulates coral growth and also serves as a biological support for beneficial microorganisms.

The structure of the Nano-Tech Bio Media consists of numerous tightly packed microbeads, with only minimal contact points. This design allows water to circulate very easily between the beads, offering excellent oxygenation and a large surface area for bacterial colonization.

This technology comes from the aerated biological filter process (W-BAF), which has been used for many years in wastewater treatment. To make this technology suitable for aquariums, Maxspect developed, through a patented process, supports in the form of spheres, blocks, and plugs, which are much more practical to use in a reef aquarium.
