A soft coral with elegant and delicate polyps
The Dendronephthya sp. is a soft coral of the heterotrophic type, known for its long and thin polyps that open into a delicate fan. This coral does not feed on light but on plankton and small organic particles that it captures in the current.
A coral with specific feeding needs
Being a 100% heterotrophic coral, the Dendronephthya must be regularly fed with phytoplankton, zooplankton, or Marine Snow to maintain its health. Frequent feeding is essential to ensure its growth and well-being, as it cannot feed through photosynthesis.
Suitable lighting and water flow
The Dendronephthya sp. prefers very low lighting, as it does not use light to feed. It also requires strong and indirect water flow to mimic ocean currents, promoting the extension of its polyps and allowing good oxygenation without disrupting its integrity.
