Pseudochromis flavivertex – Sunrise Dottyback from Proaquatix Breeding
Pseudochromis flavivertex, nicknamed the Sunrise Dottyback, is a peaceful and colorful reef fish native to the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. It is distinguished by its powdery blue body crossed by a bright yellow stripe.
A peaceful and aesthetic dottyback
Unlike other species of its kind, Pseudochromis flavivertex is known for its relatively calm temperament. It coexists easily with other peaceful species and ignores corals and most invertebrates. However, it may sometimes attack very small shrimp. It is also appreciated for its ability to limit bristle worm populations in the aquarium.
Breeding and Feeding
The available specimens are from Proaquatix breeding. They are fully weaned onto inert food and perfectly acclimated to aquarium life. Their diet includes:
- Small-sized marine pellets
- Protein flakes
- Frozen oceanic plankton
- Brine shrimp, Mysis, chopped squid
They feed easily as soon as they are introduced into the aquarium.
Maintenance Conditions
- Recommended minimum volume: 80 to 100 liters
- Temperature: 24°C to 26°C
- pH: 8.0 to 8.4
- Decor: live rocks, numerous hiding spots
- Water flow: moderate
It is preferable to provide several hiding spots so that each individual can establish a small territory if kept in a group or with closely related species.
