Pseudochromis aldabraensis – Captive-bred Orange Neon Fish RecifAtHome

Pseudochromis aldabraensis, also known as the orange dottyback fish, is an active and colorful reef fish, highly prized for its vibrant orange coloration adorned with a metallic blue stripe on its back. Measuring between 3 and 6 cm as an adult, it stands out for its dynamic behavior and ability to adapt to various reef environments.

A robust and aesthetic fish

With its elongated and lively body, the Pseudochromis aldabraensis brings real animation to the rocky areas of the aquarium. It is perfectly suited for medium to large-sized aquariums, provided there is a structured decor with many hiding places.

A strong-willed behavior

This fish is territorial and can show aggression, especially towards small fish, similarly colored species, or invertebrates like shrimp. It is therefore recommended to keep it with robust species with a similar temperament. Introducing it into an already well-structured tank limits conflicts.

Maintenance Conditions

  • Recommended minimum volume: 100 liters
  • Temperature: 24°C to 26°C
  • pH: 8.0 to 8.4
  • Decor: lots of rocks, caves, shaded areas
  • Water movement: moderate to strong

A well-arranged aquarium allows the Pseudochromis aldabraensis to mark its territory and feel secure.

Feeding

  • Carnivorous marine pellets
  • Artemia, mysis, finely chopped krill
  • Frozen or fresh plankton

Omnivorous with a carnivorous tendency, it easily accepts a varied and rich diet from its acclimation in the aquarium.
