Reef Advantage Magnesium is an optimized and ionically balanced blend of magnesium salts, including chloride and sulfate, formulated to correct magnesium deficiencies with minimal impact on the natural ionic ratios of seawater.

Role of Magnesium in Reef Aquariums

Magnesium plays a fundamental role in pH stability and maintaining calcium and alkalinity levels. Too low concentrations, particularly below 800 mg/L, can lead to pH instability and make it difficult to regulate other parameters.

Common causes of deficiency include the use of kalkwasser, overdosing of carbonate additives, or insufficient magnesium content in the synthetic salt used.

Beginner Dosage

Use 5 g per 80 L twice a week.

Dissolve in at least 250 ml of fresh water before adding.

Advanced Dosage

Test magnesium and gradually adjust to a target range between 1,200 and 1,350 mg/L.

Each dose of 5 g per 80 L increases magnesium by approximately 5 mg/L.

Do not exceed 25 g per 80 L per day.

Expert Dosage

After determining magnesium consumption, a continuous drip method can be implemented.

Calculation formula: g = (v × m) / 80, where v is the tank volume in liters and m is the desired increase in mg/L.

Recommendations and Precautions

Regularly test magnesium using a suitable kit.

Make significant adjustments gradually.

Do not mix directly with carbonate supplements.

Excess magnesium may increase alkalinity consumption.
