The Acanthurus lineatus, also known as the zebra surgeonfish or striped surgeonfish, is one of the most recognizable fish of tropical coral reefs. Its flamboyant yellow background is adorned with electric blue and yellow oblique stripes running from the eyes across the entire body. The Acanthurus lineatus is a natural algae grazer, an omnivore with a herbivorous dominance. It must receive significant daily intakes of marine algae such as nori, as well as vegetable pellets or flakes enriched with spirulina.
Occasional supplements based on small crustaceans (brine shrimp, mysis) are well tolerated, but the plant element must remain the basis of its diet. This routine promotes good digestion, stable behavior, and optimal maintenance of its vibrant colors.
