Heniochus singularius, also known as the two-banded bannerfish, is an elegant species that is easy to identify thanks to its silvery body crossed by two distinct black bands. The first band encompasses the pelvic fins, creating a mask effect, while the second extends from the back down to the anal fin.
Native to the tropical reefs of the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific, this Heniochus is appreciated for its characteristic triangular shape and relatively peaceful behavior. It moves through the water column in search of food, bringing movement and visual interest to any marine aquarium.
The Heniochus singularius can live alone, in pairs, or in small groups in a large tank. It is relatively peaceful but can be curious towards invertebrates. Its behavior is much more natural in a well-structured reef-type aquarium.
This fish is omnivorous. It readily accepts a varied and balanced diet:
Heniochus singularius is an excellent choice for aquarists looking to introduce an elegant, active, and undemanding fish in terms of diet, provided a spacious and stable reef environment is maintained.
