A Peaceful Fish That Loves Sandy Bottoms

The Halichoeres leucoxanthus is a rather calm fish that resides near sandy bottoms, where it can find refuge. Many hiding places and rocks are therefore necessary for its maintenance in an aquarium.

En savoir plus

The Halichoeres leucoxanthus is a half-canary yellow, half-white fish, with a few black spots on the caudal and dorsal fins. Easily mistaken for the Halichoeres chrysus, the latter is only yellow. Its natural habitat consists of sandy bottoms near the seabed.

For quality maintenance in an aquarium, a minimum volume of 300L is required for the Halichoeres leucoxanthus. The appropriate water temperature is around 23° to 28°C, and the pH should be between 8 and 8.5. Solitary by nature, it can still live in pairs. Its diet includes brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, or flakes.

Common name: Black-spotted canary wrasse. This fish has an elongated body with the upper half canary yellow and the lower half white, and it has three black ocelli on the caudal fin.
