Principle and Design

MatrixCarbon is a unique activated carbon, shaped into spherical beads to offer optimal hydrodynamics. This design prevents compacting and water channeling, ensuring maximum contact between the water and the macroporous adsorption sites.

Its macroporous structure is specifically suited for the removal of large organic molecules, such as nitrogenous waste, while limiting the removal of trace elements.

Main Advantages

Impact on pH and Phosphates

MatrixCarbon has an extremely low ash content, which greatly limits its impact on pH. Even in distilled water, it does not raise the pH above 7.0.

Although all carbons inherently contain phosphate, MatrixCarbon has the lowest detectable phosphate release among major brands tested, thanks to an optimized washing process that removes a maximum amount of ash.

Recommended Usage

Compatibility

MatrixCarbon can be used in cartridge filters, chemical filtration modules, canister filters, or high-flow areas of trickle filters. It is suitable for reef, marine, and freshwater aquariums.

Lifespan

Depending on the tank's organic load, the usage duration generally varies from 3 to 6 months. In heavily loaded water, depletion may occur more rapidly.
