ATI Carbon Super Pure 4000 ml: high-performance activated carbon for reef aquariums

ATI Carbon Super Pure 4000 ml is a next-generation activated carbon specially developed for filtration in marine and reef aquariums. Acid-washed and particularly pure, it has a very high adsorption capacity while limiting the introduction of undesirable substances into the aquarium.

This version contains 4000 ml of activated carbon, or 2 kg. Thanks to its highly porous structure, ATI Carbon Super Pure effectively retains many dissolved organic compounds, coloring substances, treatment residues, as well as certain toxins produced by organisms present in the aquarium.

Its use therefore helps produce clearer and cleaner water, while improving the overall maintenance conditions for fish, corals, and other inhabitants of the marine aquarium.

A particularly high adsorption capacity

ATI designed Carbon Super Pure to offer a binding capacity that can be up to three times higher than that of many conventional activated carbons used in aquariums.

This efficiency makes it possible to adsorb organic substances responsible for yellowing of the water, various undesirable molecules, residues from certain treatments, as well as inhibitory substances that may gradually accumulate in a reef aquarium.

Water freed from these compounds regains better transparency. This clarity also promotes more even light penetration in the aquarium, which is especially beneficial in reef systems housing photosynthetic corals.

Acid-washed activated carbon with very high purity

ATI Carbon Super Pure is acid-washed. This treatment greatly reduces the presence of inorganic contaminants and helps limit undesirable inputs of phosphates, silicates, or metals that may be present in some lower-quality activated carbons.

The raw material selected by ATI also has an extremely low ash content, below 1%. This characteristic contributes to the media’s high purity and helps minimize leaching into the aquarium water.

Particle size suitable for reef filtration

The ATI Carbon Super Pure carbon has a particle size of approximately 0.12 to 0.24 cm. This particle size provides an excellent balance between adsorption surface area, water flow, and mechanical strength of the media.

Its high mechanical hardness also limits abrasion and dust formation during use, especially when installed in a media filter with properly adjusted flow.

What does ATI Carbon Super Pure remove?

Organic substances: the activated carbon binds many dissolved organic molecules that can gradually accumulate in the aquarium.

Water discoloration: it helps remove substances responsible for yellowing and greatly improves water clarity.

Toxins produced by certain corals: its adsorption capacity helps limit the accumulation of certain substances released during chemical interactions between organisms.

Treatment residues: activated carbon can be used to help remove certain residues present in the water after appropriate treatment.

Dosage of ATI Carbon Super Pure

ATI recommends using approximately 0.015 to 0.025 kg of Carbon Super Pure per 100 L of aquarium water. This corresponds to approximately 30 to 50 ml per 100 L.

Aquarium volume Indicative amount
100 L 30 to 50 ml
200 L 60 to 100 ml
300 L 90 to 150 ml
500 L 150 to 250 ml
1000 L 300 to 500 ml

These values are a starting point. The amount can be adjusted depending on the aquarium’s organic load, its population, and the desired objective.

How do you use ATI Carbon Super Pure?

Before installation, ATI recommends soaking the carbon for about 10 minutes in RO water.

For optimal efficiency, Carbon Super Pure can be placed in a media filter with moderate flow. The media should be properly traversed by water without being subjected to excessive agitation.

Too much flow can encourage friction between the granules. It is therefore preferable to achieve a steady, gentle circulation through the activated carbon.

How often should the activated carbon be replaced?

ATI recommends replacing Carbon Super Pure approximately every 4 weeks. Once its adsorption capacity has been gradually used up, the carbon becomes less effective and should be replaced with fresh media.

In an aquarium with a particularly high organic load or after a specific use, more frequent replacement may be considered.

Tip: when using a particularly high-performance activated carbon for the first time in a reef aquarium, it is best to follow the recommended dosage and avoid immediately using an excessively large amount. Rapid water clarification can notably increase light penetration in the aquarium.

Why choose ATI Carbon Super Pure 4000 ml?

ATI Carbon Super Pure stands out for its high purity, acid washing, low ash content, and particularly strong adsorption capacity. These characteristics make it a filtration media suited to demanding reef aquariums where water quality and transparency are essential.

The 4000 ml / 2 kg packaging is especially interesting for large-volume aquariums or for aquarists who regularly use activated carbon in their filtration system.

Used with an appropriate dosage and replaced regularly, ATI Carbon Super Pure 4000 ml is an effective solution for maintaining crystal-clear water and limiting the accumulation of many undesirable compounds in a marine or reef aquarium.
