Native to the Indo-Pacific region, this pygmy fish is active in the evening and at night. It particularly appreciates well-structured aquariums with shaded hiding spots such as rock crevices or branches of hard corals. During the day, it often remains discreet, but as soon as night falls, it forms a bright red cloud in the center of the setup.
Very peaceful, the Apogon parvulus should be kept in groups of 5 to 10 individuals to encourage natural behaviors. It coexists perfectly with other small reef fish, invertebrates, and corals. It is recommended to avoid overly lively or aggressive companions.
With its flaming red coloration, small size, and fascinating gregarious behavior, Apogon parvulus is an ideal choice to add color and movement to a miniature reef. It will appeal to both beginners and demanding reef aquarium enthusiasts.
